How to remove users while creating a snapshot from the source instance using PCJ?

This article helps you to remove unwanted users while creating a snapshot in PCJ. You can follow the below instructions.

If you don’t want to include the users it is not possible when exporting a project with its configuration and its data. Users will be included in the exported zip file.

As a workaround approach, you can do this by manually editing some XML files. Please follow the below instructions.

Before making any changes to the XML files, please take a backup and then perform the changes.

Instructions:

  1. if you want to remove the users in the exported zip file you will have to unzip the exported zip file by downloading it and manually edit the configuration files in which users are included in the exported zip file.

  2. The configuration files that users will be included are config.xml, entities.xml, and activeobjects.xml. You have to manually remove the user entries which you don’t want from these XML files. But, editing those XML files might corrupt the complete zip configuration itself. 

  3. After removing the users who are not part of the particular project, and then zip the export file. Also, ensure that the zip file's hierarchy should be as shown in the screenshot below.
