To unlock the export features, install the BigTemplate App from the Atlassian Marketplace.

You can export your Gantt tasks to different formats, including:

  • PDF image,
  • CSV,
  • XLSX (MS Excel),
  • MPP, MPX, PDF, XML (MS Projects).

Click on the "Export" icon to start.

Next, you will be asked to select the "File type" and define the "Range":

  • Full scope (all formats supported)
  • Specific period (PDF image supported)

When ready, click on the "Export" button.

Keep in mind that for the "Specific period" range, the available export format is PDF. Although you can still see other formats, they are not supported.

Export to XLSX / CSV

Before exporting data, you can adjust the Column View and decide which columns should be visible in the exported file. To modify the Column View, click on the "Manage columns" icon, as presented below.

Then, click on the "Export" icon and choose the XLSX or CSV file type.

Depending on the Column View settings, the imported file can look similar to the one presented below.

The fields related to the structure and dependencies of the tasks are added to each XLSX and CSV file by default (these fields are needed in the case of importing such a file to BigPicture afterward):

  • Key,
  • Parent Row,
  • Issue Type,
  • Start Date,
  • End Date,
  • Parent Key,
  • Link.

Custom templates

To avoid modifying the Column View section before each export, you can easily prepare templates that will be tailored to your needs. You can use them with no need to adjust displayed columns.

Export to MS Project

All file types use the same format compliant with the MS Project. At the moment, although it is possible to import a customized template of the MPP type, it does not affect the imported data. Pairing a column with the ID of a given custom field is currently not possible due to a fixed set of fields, which are hard-coded in the app. This set contains the following custom fields:

  • Task Name,
  • Duration,
  • Start,
  • Finish,
  • Predecessors (links),
  • Resource Names.

Export to MS Project Empty Template (PDF)

The "MS Project Empty Template (PDF)" export covers all tasks, not only the ones visible on the page.

The exemplary PDF export in the MS Project format:

Export to PDF image

The exported image is a screenshot of the current view and covers the whole timeline. As there might be blank areas on the timeline, for example, before the first task start, we recommend applying the date range filters to exclude the blank areas.

If you open the Resources panel and then export to a PDF image, the Resources panel will be included in the export:

  • export can be limited horizontally as a specific period
  • export contains all the tasks and resources
  • tasks and resources may be limited by filters and quick filters

Image export requires NodeJS installation. If you do not see the "PDF image" export option, click here for more information.
