  • Optionally copy space permissions (or use defaults or make the new space private).

  • Optionally, copy page permissions.

  • The status bar gives real-time feedback on the progress of the job.

  • Log that can be copied to the clipboard for troubleshooting.

  • Ability to rename spaces and page titles.

  1. Now select Permissions. You can choose to retain the space's original permissions, use Confluence's default space permissions, or choose private space permissions as required.

  2. Under Page options, select the required options to copy to your new space. You can copy page permissions, attachments, labels, and properties. Note that, the page history, blog posts, and email are excluded while copying the space.

  3. Under Page Title options, enter prefix so all copied pages have the title prefix.

  4. Optionally, you can use the search and replace options so that the copied page titles will use these to search for or replace the matches entered here.

  5. Click Copy to copy the space. The copy space app also allows you to copy logs to the clipboard for troubleshooting purposes. Refer to the status bar for real-time feedback on the copy progress.

Permissions

To copy the space, you must be in a group with the Create Space(s) permission enabled. Please contact your site administrator to enable the permissions.

Image shows the groups permissions for a site. Ask your Site administrator to allow you to create spaces to use this app.

The user who copies the space gets full permissions in the new copy.

However, if the user who copies the space is an administrator and selects the Use the original space's permissions option, the All > Delete Own and Mail > Delete permissions are not set for any group or user in the new copy. This is an Atlassian bug. You can set these permissions manually after the copy.

Limitations

The current version of the Copy Space app has a copy limit of 2000 pages and a time limit of one hour. This page and time limit were set to gauge traffic. If you need a larger copy allotment, please submit a support request.

  • Unless you have many attachments, a space with 2000 pages should copy in 15 to 20 minutes.

  • The operation will likely time out if you have more than ~10,000 attachments but less than 2000 pages. The copy will still be complete, though the final stage will not be done. Your space will be missing a home page; instead, it will have a placeholder there, and an [ in progress ] text will be shown before the being of your space.

  • If your space meets these conditions, you can either perform a simple clean-up later or raise a support request to extend the timeout.

  • No labels
