Copy Space user remains in space after app is removed

Problem

The app has been removed, but a Copy Space for Confluence user remains in a particular space permission and not as a user in the instance.

Cause

When you use Copy Space, the app needs to have permission to complete the actions to be taken. So, Confluence adds a user with the app name to the permissions of the space. This is not a normal user and is not counted towards the user count.

Example

Solution

To remove the user, you need to remove all permissions of the app and save the changes. Once Confluence starts the removal and completes it, the status is updated in less then 24 hours.

Note that:

  • There is no harm in the user remaining in the permissions.

  • It is not counted towards your user count.

  • This does not happen automatically upon uninstalling the app due to the API provided by Atlassian.
