Space administrators or permitted administrators can specify how the numbered headings are to be applied across all pages in a given space. This page explains the various settings available to provide the default values to be used when the Numbered Headings button is selected To do so, go to the required space and use the setting to allow users to select the Numbered headings button on a page.

  1. Log in as an administrator or space administrator.

  2. Navigate to Space tools > Apps > Numbered Headings.

  3. Select the Settings tab.

Automatic numbering

The options here control how the app collaborates with the default Confluence settings and also the Scroll Exporter app by K15T app behaviour, if used.

Click Enable, Disable or Inherit from global settings to apply, remove or apply the default global settings to the space.

Formatting

The options here control how the numbered headings are shown on Confluence pages.

Select the Append full stop (.) check box to display a period sign (.) after every heading. For example, if enabled, a heading (H1 to H6) is shown as heading. (eg: Chapter 1. rather than Chapter 1) else just the heading is displayed.

Select the numbering format to be used for each heading H1 to H6. The options are as follows:

  • custom

  • none

  • decimal

  • upperLatin

  • lowerLatin

  • upperGreek

  • lowerGreek

  • upperRoman

  • lowerRoman

Enter the formatting to be applied for each heading in the relevant text box in the {heading.numberFormat} format. For more information, refer to Formatting optionsToggle the Enable space numbering option on to allow use of Numbered Headings within the specific space, by default. If collaborative editing of pages is allowed, the Numbered headings button is enabled for use in new pages. Otherwise, users must save the page first before the button can be enabled.
