Discover our latest feature updates and improvements for JQL Search Extensions for Jira Cloud.

New JQL Search Extensions button

We added a JQL Search Extensions button to the issue advanced search bar in Jira to help new users discover and use Extended Search. Click this button to open the Extended Search page.

Flag for first-time users

New users who perform a search with Jira’s JQL search feature are shown a message that announces the availability of the JQL Search Extensions app and how to access it from the Apps menu in Jira.

Integrated Atlassian’s JQL text editor

We have implemented Atlassian’s JQL query editor to JQL Extended Search which offers the following improvements to make it a more secure, seamless, and faster way for you to write and edit your JQL queries:

  • Greater variety and quicker loading of auto-suggestions

  • JQL syntax is displayed in different colors

  • Ability to add new lines to your query if you want to split your JQL into multiple lines

Search filters by owner and name

Agile functions now support sprints created on other boards

New JQL functions added for date comparison

You can now use the following for your date comparison queries:

  • dateCompare()

  • dateCompareIgnoreTime()

Improvements

  • Authentication passed more securely to Jira

  • Faster indexing of issues with links

  • Fixed handling of attachments with special characters in the filenames

  • Upgraded the service cluster to a new supported version with all the security fixes

We have added a searchable cheatsheet to help you discover the most appropriate targets for your queries. The cheatsheet provides examples and lets you quickly copy the functions to use in your queries.
