Lightning Web Components (LWC) offers new ways to design and create custom interfaces for Salesforce.

Some of the app’s features such as Inline Attachments and Jira Comments (NextGen) are only compatible with LWC.

Read our Configuring Lightning Web Component documentation to find out more.

This guide will help you set up a connection between Jira and Salesforce.

Which version are you using?

Cloud

  1. Go to Settings > Salesforce.

  2. In the sidebar, under Configuration, click Connections.

  3. At the Salesforce Connections screen, click +Add Connection.

  4. The New Connection dialog window will pop up.
Enter a Connection Name, then click Add.

  5. The connection will be added to the Connection Name list but you'll notice it is Not Authorized

  6. Click Authorize.

  7. Select the environment type of your Salesforce instance, either Production or Sandbox.

  8. Click Authorize to authorize the connection.

If you're not logged into Salesforce, the browser will load a new page and prompt you to enter your Salesforce credentials.

  9. If the authorization was successful, you can now import the compact layout fields from Salesforce. This will quickly pre-populate the objects and fields available through the connection.
(warning) This step is optional, and you can always configure it later. Otherwise, click Import to proceed.

  10. If the authorization is successful, the Status will display Authorized.

Server

This is a two-part process:

  • You will first need to set an Integration User before you can create a Connection.

  • Then you will add the Connection to Salesforce.

Step 1: Select an integration user

(warning) An integration user must have a dedicated Jira user account specifically created for this purpose. See Setting up an integration user for more information.

  1. Go to Settings > Add-ons/Manage apps.

  2. In the sidebar, under Salesforce, choose Settings.

  3. At the Settings screen, choose an Integration User for the Salesforce Package so that it can call Jira APIs on their behalf.

  4. After selecting an Integration User, click Save.

Step 2: Add a new Connection

  1. In the sidebar under Salesforce, choose Connections.

  2. At the Salesforce Connections screen, click +Add Connection.

  3. The New Connection dialog window will pop up.

  4. Enter a Connection Name, then click Add.

  5. The connection will be added to the Connection Name list but you'll notice it is Not Authorized

  6. Click Authorize under the Operations column.

  7. Select the environment type of your Salesforce instance, either Production or Sandbox.

  8. Click Authorize.

  9. You will be given a code and asked to enter it at https://login.salesforce.com/setup/connect.

(warning) When logging in to Salesforce to enter the code, the current user who logs in will become the "Salesforce Integration User".

  10. Follow the instructions. Once completed, return to your Jira instance and click Authorize.

  11. If the authorization was successful, you can now import the compact layout fields from Salesforce.
This will quickly pre-populate the objects and fields available through the connection you've just created.

(info) This step is optional, and you can always configure it later.
    Otherwise, click Import to proceed.

  12. If the authorization is successful, the Status will display Authorized.
