Step 2: Migrate your Scaffolding data to cloud
Overview
Use the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant app to migrate your Scaffolding data along with your Confluence data.
Prerequisites
Verify that:
You completed the steps in Step 1: Prepare for Scaffolding data migration.
You scheduled the migration window.
The key of the Confluence Data Center space that you plan to migrate doesn't exist on the destination Confluence Cloud site.
Before retrying a space migration, you must delete the space from the destination cloud site and remove it from the trash.
1. Navigate to the migration tool
Select Administration ( ) > General Configuration.
In the left-hand sidebar, scroll down to Atlassian cloud and click Migration Assistant.
The Migration Assistant home page opens.
2. Prepare the migration tool
If you skip this step, the tool will only migrate your Scaffolding structure and Live Template macros, but not the Scaffolding data.
On the Migration Assistant home page, in the Assess your apps card, click View app assessment.
In the Assess your apps dialog, find Scaffolding and, from the Decision dropdown menu, select Needed in cloud.
Complete the assessment for other apps, if necessary, and click Done.
On the Migration Assistant home page, in the Prepare your apps card, click Begin preparing.
Connect to your destination Confluence Cloud site and click Continue.
Review the Scaffolding privacy policy and click Continue to agree.
In the Agree to app migration dialog, click Done.
3. Run the pre-migration checks
On the Migration Assistant home page, click the Migrate your data card.
On the Migrations dashboard page, click Create new migration.
Review the information on the How it works page and click Connect to cloud.
Enter a descriptive name for the migration, choose your destination cloud site, and click Choose what to migrate.
On the Choose your migration options page, configure the scope of the migration.
Option | Description |
|---|---|
Global templates | If you have Live Template macros that are based on global templates, consider selecting Migrate global page templates. Otherwise, your Live Template macros migrate without data. |
Spaces | Select one or more spaces with Scaffolding data to migrate. |
Users and groups | If you have User Option macros, consider selecting All users and groups from the Confluence directory. Otherwise, non-migrated users cannot appear in the user dropdown lists. |
Apps | Select All as you previously marked Scaffolding as needed in cloud. |
Click Check for errors and wait for the pre-migration checks to complete.
4. Review the Scaffolding pre-migration checks
On the Pre-migration checks page, scroll down to the Apps section, expand App vendor checks, and click View app vendor checks.
On the App vendor checks page, expand the Scaffolding section.
If there are warning messages ( ) , download the report for each warning and resolve the issues in the pages listed in the CSV file.
The Restricted pages check report lists the pages that have restriction settings. To ensure successful Scaffolding data migration, remove the restrictions for the pages.
The Repeating data macros check report lists the pages that contain Repeating Data macros nested with unsupported macros. Update each page to ensure that the Repeating Data macros are nested with supported Scaffolding macros only. For details, see Macro differences between Scaffolding Data Center and Scaffolding Cloud.
The Nested macros check report lists the pages the pages with nested Scaffolding macros. Update each page to ensure that the Repeating Data macros are nested with migratable Scaffolding macros only. Update each page to ensure that the Scaffolding macros are at the root level of your page structure.
The app vendor checks only scan up to the second level of the page structure. If a Scaffolding macro is nested beyond the third level, it will not appear in the migration reports, leading to potential data loss.
Click Refresh to re-run the Scaffolding pre-migration checks.
Verify that there are no Scaffolding warning messages ( ) and click Continue.
Click Review Migration and click Run now.
The migration begins and you can monitor its progress on the Migrations dashboard page.
5. Monitor the migration progress
Verify that the app data migration is successful.
On the Migration dashboard, select the View Details action for your migration.
Wait until you see a complete status with a message about the next steps.
If the status is different or there is no message displayed, it means that migration has failed. Contact support for assistance.
