How to add (1D) Statistics gadgets

For this tutorial, you must already have created a Rich Filter with at least a Smart Filter, a dashboard with a Controller, and preferably a Rich Filter Results gadget (with a couple of views) based on the Rich Filter. We have used the Rich Filter and dashboard from the previous tutorial.

  1. In the Jira dashboard, add one Rich Filter Statistics Gadget. Click Add gadget.

    Add gadget

  2. Configure the statistics gadget:

    1. Ensure you set the same rich filter you have selected in the other gadgets in the same dashboard (remember, this links together the gadgets in the same dashboard; a Controller controls all the gadgets with the same rich filter as the Controller).

    2. Suppose you need to exclude the canceled issues from the results (all issues having a non-empty resolution other than Fixed). In this case, type the
JQL: resolution in (EMPTY, Fixed) in the Working query field.

    3. Select Assignee as the Statistic type

    4. Select Issue Count for the Values list.

      Configure the statistics gadget

  3. Click Submit.

  4. The gadget will display the Issue Count for each assignee, excluding the canceled issues (because you have used the Working Query).

  5. If you click on the filters in the Controller you'll notice that the results displayed by the Statistics gadget are impacted (the filter of the Controller is also applied).

Use quick charts in Rich Filter Statistics gadgets

In addition to the default table view, the Rich Filter Statistics gadget provides a chart view. We call these charts quick charts because they are directly available on gadgets without requiring any specific configuration. Let's see how they work in your dashboard's first Rich Filter Statistics gadget.

  1. Click the Chart (chart icon.png) icon at the bottom right of the Assignee Statistics gadget.

    Click the Chart

  2. In the displayed donut chart of Issue Count by Assignee, click the chart type selector at the bottom of the gadget to switch to any of the available chart types. Let's switch to the Bar chart.

  3. Click another selector at the bottom of the gadget to switch between its values (columns). Let's switch to Story Points.

  4. Hold the pointer over the bars to see a tooltip with details.

  5. Switch back to the table view at any moment by clicking the Table (table icon.png ) icon at the bottom right of the gadget.

The slices or bars are displayed in the same order as the table. To change the order, switch to the table view, change the sort order by clicking on the column header, and then switch back to the chart view.

Smart Filters are a very powerful mechanism. By combining smart filters, the Rich Filter Statistics gadgets with all the range of possible outputs, and the Controllers you can immediately obtain statistics relevant for different contexts.
