Project templates
This page explains in detail how to configure and manage project templates.

Create new project template
To create a new project template:
Select Apps from the Settings menu () on the top right corner.
Navigate to DELEGATED PROJECT CREATOR > Project templates settings in the left sidebar to view the Configure project templates settings page.
 Enter the following:
Name: A relevant template name that summarizes the purpose of the template. This helps a project creator select an appropriate template that suits the project requirements.
Description: Brief summary of the template explaining in which scenario the template can be used or by whom.
Turn the toggle On or Off to set the template to enable or disable users from requesting or creating projects based on the respective template.
Click Add  to create the new template with the mentioned details.
Manage project template settings
The Project template tab displays the list of existing templates with the following template details:
Name: Template name.
Description: A brief description of the respective template.
Projects created: Number of projects created using the respective template.
Active: Status of the template. Yes indicates the respective template is active and No indicates inactive.
If a project template is inactive, users cannot request or create projects based on that template. While requesting a project using the top horizontal navigation Apps > Create project from template or Request new project, users do not see it listed in the Create new project from template or Request new project window respectively.
All the projects created before setting a template to inactive mode continue to function as required. The current inactive status has no impact on these projects.
You can also perform the following actions on this page:
Drag and drop (): Use this option to rearrange the order of templates.
Edit (): Click this icon to edit the Name, Description and status of the respective template within the row. Once you update the details, click Update. Or click Cancel to cancel applying the changes.
Copy (): Click this icon to copy the settings of the respective template to a new template. Enter a meaningful name as following:
Click Copy to copy the settings to the newly created template.
Open new window (): Click this icon to open the Edit Project Template:<~Template name> window where you can edit the template further by adding additional details. Refer to the Edit project template section.
: This indicates that the projects created using the respective template are assigned Default Jira Workflow Scheme. You see this icon when a workflow is not set while creating a project template.
You can also click Create template from existing project on the bottom right corner to create a new project template. You are navigated to the Create template/schemes from project window. Here you can enter the following details and click Create scheme to add a new template to the list of templates in Project templates.
New template name: Enter a meaningful name to be assigned to the newly created template.
Based on existing project: Select a project from the available list of projects to copy the schemes or configurations from.

Exporting project templates
Navigate to DELEGATED PROJECT CREATOR > Project templates settings in the left sidebar to view the Configure project templates settings page.
on the right corner, you can find the "Export to csv" button.
clicking the "Export to csv" button brings up the dialog box to choose from what to export.
Filtering project templates
Project templates can be filtered based on template name, template description, and template status.
Edit project template configuration
The Edit Project Template window (displayed using an arrow  next to the respective template) allows you to define the configuration for any project created with the respective template.Â
Enter the following details and click Done to save the template:

1 | Usage guidance | User-friendly description displayed during the creation of the project to help the creator choose the appropriate template to use. You can add HTML tags to this parameter to apply various styles, formats and links to the inserted text. |
2 | Parent template | The template to inherit values from. Any values specified in the current template override the settings derived from the parent template. Rather than manually duplicating an entire Project Creator for Jira template, you can now designate a parent template. In your current template, simply override the areas that you want to change. |
3 | Base project(s) | Select one or more existing projects that your trusted users can select from to copy the project configurations to a new project. |
4 | Limit to group(s) | A subset of the groups that can use this template to create projects. |
5 | Project request approvers | Add user(s) to assign them permissions to approve any project request of this type.

6 | Project type | Indicates the type of project - Business or Software. Software is available with Jira Software. To know more about project types, refer to this article. |
7 | Default assignee | The default assignee. |
8 | Board creation | For classic projects, board is created by default when a project is created. If set to "no" a default board will not be created. |
9 | Issue schemes | Indicates the issue scheme that is a group of issues to be copied into the newly created project. |
10 | Enable email | If set to Allow creator to specify, the project creator is prompted to provide a project email address when creating the project. |
11 | Project categories | Name of the project categories that the project creator can select to associate with the newly created project. If you only select one item, the creator is not presented with a Project Categories option. Options only appear if there are two or more for the creator to choose from. |
12 | Components | Name of the Component Scheme, as defined on the Component schemes tab. |
13 | Versions | Name of the Version Scheme, as defined on the Version schemes tab. |
14 | Workflows | Workflow Scheme to associate with the project. You can configure also a new workflow schemes to suit your requirements to use it in a project template. |
15 | Permissions | Permission Scheme to associate with the project (make sure that the Project Lead has access to utilize the project). You can configure a new workflow schemes to suit your requirements to use it in a project template. |
16 | Issue security | Issue Security Scheme to associate with the project. You can configure a new workflow schemes to suit your requirements to use it in a project template. |
17 | Notifications | Notification Scheme to associate with the project. You can configure a new workflow schemes to suit your requirements to use it in a project template. |
18 | Screens | Issue Type Screen Scheme to associate with the project. You can configure a new workflow schemes to suit your requirements to use it in a project template. |
19 | Issue types | Issue Type Scheme to associate with the project. You can configure a new workflow schemes to suit your requirements to use it in a project template. |
20 | Fields | Field Configuration Scheme to associate with the project. You can configure a new workflow schemes to suit your requirements to use it in a project template. |
21 | Project roles | Name of the Project Role Scheme, as defined on the Project Roles Schemes tab. |

Note that the respective project template changes are not effective to create new projects until it is set to active.Â
