Clone Comments, Links, and Attachments
This page provides the details to clone an issue along with the respective comments, links, and attachments.
Steps
Select an issue you want to clone in your Jira instance. For example, consider an issue with the comments, linked issues, and confluence page attachments as shown in the following image.
In the top-right corner, select Actions > Clone Plus option or select the Clone Plus quick-add button in any issue.
On the Clone Plus for Jira page, do the following:
Select the required values for Clone operation, Project, and Issue type.
In the Clone options section, select the following clone option:
Attachments
Links
Comments
Click Clone.
On the Create issue page, select values for all the issue fields as required.
Click Create.
A successful issue creation message is displayed and the parent issue is cloned with the comments, linked issues, and confluence page attachments.
For the Comments clone option, you can select the Keep original comment date check box to retain the original date in the cloned issue.
In the cloned issue:
The Confluence links are copied as web links.
The original commentator is replaced with the user cloning the issue.
In certain cases, the view restricted comments are not copied to prevent the comment from becoming visible elsewhere. The rules are:
All comments are copied when going to the same project whether they have view restrictions or not.
Any view restricted comments retain the same restrictions when copied.
All view restricted comments that are restricted by group are copied.
All view restricted comments that are restricted by a project role restriction cannot be copied when the clone is to a different project.
