Configure connection search results

This guide will help you configure Connection search results by setting up what Salesforce Objects are defined in the search as well as what Salesforce Fields are searchable.

Adding a Salesforce Object to the search results

  1. Go to Apps, and then in the sidebar, under CONNECTOR FOR SALESFORCE, choose Connections.

  2. At the Salesforce Connections screen, go to the Connection you want to configure > Configure.

  3. At the Connection Configuration screen, scroll down to locate the Available Salesforce Objects and click on +Add Salesforce Object:

  4. An Add Salesforce Object window will pop up. Enter or select your desired Salesforce Object, then click Next.

  5. Enter the Salesforce Field you want to add, then click Add. If you are satisfied with the addition, then proceed to click Next.

  6. You will be brought back to the Connection Configuration where the Salesforce Object you just added will now be listed.
However, the new changes are not applied yet, so click Apply Changes.

  7. If the changes were applied successfully, the Salesforce Object you just added will now appear as a searchable Salesforce Object in the Associate Object window.

Adding a Salesforce Field to an existing object

  1. Click the Jira icon in the top left and then Salesforce > Connections.

  2. At the Salesforce Connections screen, go to the Connection you want to configure > Options Menu > Configure:

  3. At the Connection Configuration screen, locate the Salesforce Object desired and click Fields to continue configuration.

  4. Then, in the Salesforce Field search box, enter the Salesforce Field you want to add, then click Add.

  5. When the new Salesforce Field is added, remember to click Apply Changes.

Rendering Object Details instead of Object ID

In some scenarios, you might want to show object details (e.g. User full name) instead of object ID in the Details View dialog.

For example, if you add a Created By field for Case object, it will appear as an ID like this:

To replace the ID with something meaningful, you may add the object to the Available Salesforce Objects, which in this case is a User object:

The Connector uses this configuration to automatically translate the object ID:

Notice the primary field is automatically chosen to replace the object ID.
