Using Assets on Jira Issues

The Assets and Inventory Plugin for Jira Cloud allows you to easily manage your organization's assets by integrating them into your Jira issues.

Prerequisites

Before you proceed with linking an asset to an issue, ensure that you have:

  1. Jira Service Management (JSM) project access with administrative permissions.

  2. Created an asset custom field. Here’s how.

After creating the asset custom field, here is what to do:

  1. Open to the issue you want to link the asset to.

  2. Click More Fields to reveal all fields, and find the asset custom field you created.

  3. Click + Link Asset.

  4. Search for the asset you’re looking for. You can add as many assets as you like.

That’s it! The asset is now linked to the issue and will appear in the issue view like this:

After adding an asset to a Jira issue, you can view its details by clicking on the asset in the custom field. This will open up the Asset Panel, which displays all of the assets linked to the issue. Here you can view an asset’s details by clicking on it.

You can view the asset information in detail by clicking the eye icon, or edit an asset’s information in the issue view by clicking the pencil icon.

The linked assets, attachments, and asset history are visible in the asset details as well:
