Power BI Connector app permissions
This page contains information about the permissions required for the Power BI Connector application and clarifies the app-specific security and compliance statements displayed on Atlassian Marketplace.
Power BI Connector - Permissions for Jira
The Power BI Connector app requires the following Jira permissions.
READ
Only reads the Jira data.
To use the app, you need the minimum Jira Project “Browse” permission.
ACT_AS_USER
Refresh the data in Power BI Desktop using scheduled refreshes, even when the user is offline.
ADMIN
Jira Administrator privileges are required to manage the Power BI Connector App Settings.
The Power BI Connector app does not write or delete data from Jira.
The Power BI Connector app does not administer Jira projects.
Power BI Desktop: The actions performed on data in Power BI Desktop do not impact the Jira data.
After importing the Jira data to Power BI Desktop, you have the flexibility to:
Modify the data in the Power BI Desktop
Delete the data in the Power BI Desktop.
Power BI Desktop does not write the data back to Jira.
During the subsequent data refresh, the connector fetches the fresh Jira data to Power BI Desktop.
Security and compliance statements
Since the Power BI Connector application requires ADMIN permissions to manage App Settings, the marketplace template displays the following security and compliance statements by default.
However, not all the permission statements are applicable to the Power BI Connector app.

Navigate to Atlassian Marketplace > Privacy & Security > Security and Compliance to view the Power BI Connector app security and compliance information.
