Sort by column header

You can quickly sort the data visualized in an Issue Matrix panel by just clicking on a column header of your choice. Only the titles of sortable custom fields are clickable in the panel.

If you wish to quickly restore the default order of the data in the panel, do it with the Reset to default sort order button at the top.

With this universal feature, you can effectively organize long lists of sub-tasks and move high-priority sub-tasks to the top.

How it works

  • You can sort the data in an Issue Matrix panel by clicking on the column headers of sortable fields.

  • The sorting criteria are preserved per user per Issue Matrix. Therefore, the next time a user opens an issue, the data in the Issue Matrix will be ordered according to the last sorting criteria for that particular matrix for that specific user.
For example, suppose the user has access to matrices A and B in his issues and has applied different sorting criteria to each. Next time he opens Issue Matrix A, the data will be with the last sorting criteria for matrix A.
When opening Issue Matrix B, the data will be with the last sorting for matrix B.

  • The dynamic sorting by column header overrules any sorting set in the configuration (either in Sort By or manually in the JQL query for JQL matrices).

  • You can return the default sorting order of the data by clicking on the Reset to default sort order button on top of the Issue Matrix panel.

Sorting limitation

There is a limitation on how many sorting configurations can be preserved for a single user. Issue Matrix can maintain 500 sorting configurations for a single user per Jira Cloud site.

For example, if there are 500 Issue Matrices in a Jira Cloud site and each had been sorted by the same user previously, no new sorting criteria can be preserved. However, if that user resets the sorting of any of the Issue Matrices with the Reset to default sort order button and performs new sorting afterward, the new sorting criteria will be preserved.
