Introduction
You can create holiday plans to reflect holidays and observances. Each non-working day resulting from the holiday plan reduces the capacity (daily capacity to zero) of the assigned resource or the team.
Tasks can be calculated automatically based on the assignee’s working days.
Holidays can be grouped into a set, such as European holidays. If the organization also has offices in the United States, a holiday set can be created for that region as well. The planning process is improved as information is easily accessed across the organization.
Security and access
App admins and App resource admins can access the Holiday plans page:
Open BigPicture.
Click the wrench button on the right side.
Select Resources.
Navigate to the Holiday plans tab.
Holiday modes
The table below presents the available modes:
You can view all holidays and inline edit the holiday name field.
Holiday mode | Description |
---|---|
Non-working days | The non-working days of the week are marked with a grey color circle. |
Floating holidays | Dates are NOT moved to the next year automatically and are marked with a blue color circle. |
Fixed holidays | Dates are automatically moved to the next year and are marked with a red color circle. |
Extra working days | The extra days are marked with a white color circle. |
Default holiday plan
When a task is added to the scope of a box, or when the currently assigned plan is deleted, the task assignee is automatically assigned to the default holiday plan.
You cannot delete default holiday plans.
Add new holiday plans
To create a holiday plan:
Go to the Holiday plans page.
Click Add new plan.
Provide:
Name
Code (max. 10 characters)
Click Add to confirm.
Edit the calendar
To view and edit holiday dates:
Go to the Holiday plans page.
Click:
the name of the plan, or
the Details button
Click Edit details to start making changes.
Click the date you want to convert to a holiday and select the mode:
Extra working day
Fixed holiday
Floating holiday
Click Save.
If necessary, define non-working days on the left side of the screen.
Click Save changes to confirm.
Use the arrows in the top-right corner to move the calendar to the next year.
Delete holiday plans
To delete a holiday plan:
Go to the Holiday plans page.
Click the Delete button:
on the holiday plans overview page, or
on the holiday plan details page
Resources assigned to a deleted plan are assigned to the default holiday plan instead.
Non-working days
Holiday plans allow you to define non-working days, which define company-wide, religion-specific, or national holidays.

Non-working days resulting from holiday plans directly impact automatic task scheduling.
