Users who are migrating from server to cloud will be able to retain all macro data. Your questions around this scenario has been captured and responded to below.
Question
I want to migrateComposition Tabs for Confluence to the cloud. Are there anything I need to know before doing the migration?
Answer
Only some macros in Composition Tabs for Confluence are available in Cloud:
Other Composition macros not available in Cloud can still be migrated without data loss (read more below).
Question
What happens to the macros / parameters that are not available in Cloud? Will my data be lost?
Answer
While these macros / parameters does not have any output and the values are ignored in Cloud, all data will be retained. Some of the macros will be coming to Cloudin future releases.
After the migration, all the unavailable macros in View Page mode will be hidden to prevent you from getting the "Unknown macro" errors.
Question
How do I migrate the app to Cloud?
Answer
Tabbed content macros (Deck of Cards andCard) have to be converted to Tab Group and Tab macros first by following this guide.
Once that's done, migrate your content with the Cloud Migration Assistant by Atlassian. All the app data will be migrated automatically.
Question
Will the position of the Tab Groups macro remain the same post-migration to Confluence Cloud.
Answer
When switching Tab Groups to Tabs macros:
Top position will remain as top.
Left position will remain as left (known as "side" position in Tabs macro)
Right position will not remain as it is and instead be converted to top position in Tabs macro.
Question
How do I access data from these legacy macros or specific macro parameters?
Answer
Legacy macros:
You can access the data by accessing the page's storage format by choosing > View Storage Format.
Question
Do I have to do anything to make these data available once the macro feature has been made fully supported in Cloud in future?
Answer
These functions will automatically pick up the migrated data and work automatically.
Question
Are there any special cases that I need to be aware of?
Answer
Yes. please see below:
The content inside Tab Group and Tab macros may not be displayed the same way in Cloud as they were in Server. For example, if the macro contains elements that are not supported in Cloud, it will not be displayed properly in Cloud. This page contains a list of Incompatible macros when nested within Composition Cloud's Tab and Tab Group macros.
Similarly, if the macro contains a third-party macro, you’ll still need to install that first.
Question
Can I expedite or influence a delivery of a macro or function I need in cloud?
Answer
Yes, please complete our ongoing survey. We encourage you to vote for the function and/or feature you would like to see in Cloud.
