JSU for Jira Server/Data Center

This is the documentation of JSU for Jira Server/Data Center. If you are using JSU on Jira Cloud, you can find the documentation here.

Description

The 'User Is In Any Roles' condition checks that the current user is in any one (not all) of the specified project roles.

There is a 'User Is In Any Role' condition included in Jira, however, this only verifies the membership of the user against a single project role.

Configuration

You must specify the prerequisite roles for this transition when configuring the check. For example, Administrators. Select the role from the list of available roles, then select Add.

Example configuration using Administrators as the allowed role.

For information on how to configure a check for a workflow transition in Jira, see Atlassian’s Advanced Workflow Configuration documentation.

Example

A workflow is configured so that the 'Resolve' transition has the 'User Is In Any Roles' condition set to the 'SuperUser' project role only. A user viewing an issue in that workflow will not see the 'Resolve' transition unless they have the 'SuperUser' project role.

You can configure JSU’s preconditions in the following ways:

  • Negate the precondition result

  • Combine the result with the result of previous preconditions using the following options:

    • Discard the result of the previous precondition: Results of the previous preconditions are not taken into account

    • AND: All of the preconditions have to be true to execute the post function

    • OR: Only one of the preconditions has to be true to execute the post function

Example of a precondition configuration as described on this page.
