Frequently Asked Questions

 Can I transfer my Classic Connector for Salesforce and Jira subscription license to NextGen?

No. Atlassian does not allow licenses to be transferred between apps.

 How can I get a refund for the remaining time when upgrading to NextGen?

Only Atlassian can issue a refund on the remaining time associated with your subscription license. To request your refund, follow these steps:

  1. Open a ticket with Atlassian Support using the following link: Atlassian Support

  2. In the How can we help you? dropdown, select Other.

  3. In the Provide the related URL, SEN, EN, or invoice number (if applicable) dropdown, look for your license of the Classic for Salesforce and Jira.

  4. In the Atlassian ticket, provide a copy of this message "Due to the pending End of Life of the Classic Connector for Salesforce and Jira app, we give consent for Atlassian to process your refund for the license for the remainder of the license period.

  5. Once you have sent the ticket, notify us so we can confirm consent.

  6. If needed, please add our Product Manager’s name and email to the ticket.

 How can I upgrade to the NextGen?

We understand that upgrading to a major version can involve extra work. To help ease the upgrade process, we have created a migrator that will assist you during the process. For more information, please see our migration documentation.

 Why should I upgrade to the NextGen? Do you have a feature comparison for Classic x NextGen?

NextGen was built with a modern architecture and interface in addition to improved security and extended functionality. NextGen originated with the goal to replace the Classic Connector for Salesforce and Jira, so our customer could continue to enjoy the many benefits the integration of Jira and Salesforce can bring to organizations.  Can Support assist with the upgrade?

Support can assist with any questions you might have. However, support can not execute the migration for you. If you need that type of assistance, please let us know and we will introduce an Appfire partner to work with you.

 Can I see a demo of NextGen or the Classic Connector for Salesforce and Jira Migrator?

 Do I need to purchase a license of the NextGen during the upgrade?

Yes. However you can take advantage of the free trial period that comes with every new trial install. First time installs come with 30 day free trial, with the possibility of extension if necessary.

 Can I still download the Classic Connector after it has been removed from Atlassian Marketplace?

Yes. The Classic Connector is available for download until December 31, 2025. However, it will be only be available for customers carrying a paid licenses at the time the app was removed from Atlassian Marketplace.

 What if the Classic Connector for Salesforce and Jira encounters a critical issue?

The Connector for Salesforce and Jira will be in freeze mode starting September 1st, 2024. In extreme cases, we will issue new versions to ensure our customers can continue their upgrade journey to NextGen.

 Why is the Classic Connector for Salesforce and Jira being retired now?

We recognize that the Classic Connector for Salesforce and Jira has been a favorite of many organizations for many years. However, due to its old architecture, libraries, and language, maintaining it has become increasingly difficult. For example, implementing Jira 10 support would require significant effort with no guarantees of success, in addition to all the security risks. After careful consideration, we made this difficult decision based on what is best for our customers.

 How do prices compare between Classic and NextGen?

Prices for Classic and NextGen are the same. There is no price increase, which is another great reason for migrating to NextGen!
