Pie Report

A pie chart is a way to visualize data so that you can see the size of components in proportion to the whole data. It’s a circular form of representing data with slices showing the proportions. This article explains how to create a pie report using the report designer interface and provides a few examples.

Steps to Create Pie Report

 

  1. Click New report > Custom Report to open the Report Designer interface

  2. Select page Type as Chart. Select Pie from the secondary drop-down

  3. Simple Pie Chart - one Dimension field for Sector and one Measure field for Data, optional Dimension fields for filters

    1. Add the Dimension fields from the left panel by clicking the drop-down sign next to the field name and selecting the appropriate destination (Sector or Optional Filters)

    2. Add the Measure field from the left panel by clicking the '+' sign next to the field name. It will get added to Data automatically

  4. Segmented Pie Chart - one Dimension field for Sector, one Dimension field for 'Segment By' and one Measure field for Data, optional Dimension fields for filters

    1. Add the Dimension fields from the left panel by clicking the drop-down sign next to the field name and selecting the appropriate destination (Sector, ‘Segment By’ or Optional Filters)

    2. Add the Measure field from the left panel by clicking the '+' sign next to the field name. It will get added to Data automatically

  5. Click Run to view the results in the bottom pane (below is a screenshot of a Segmented Pie report)

  6. Click Save to save the report for future use. Saved reports can be accessed via My AreaMy Reports

 

 Additional Details

Field Settings

Settings on each field can be set by selecting the gear icon on each added field. Listed below are some examples of the options that are available from field settings:

  • Change the label of the column

  • Apply filters on the column

  • Set date format

  • Set aggregation formula

Page Settings

Each page in a report can have a Page Title that will appear as the title of the page on the report. Page settings are also available for each page and differ based on the type of the report.
