Overview

The Locations feature in Power Admin for Jira allows you to understand precisely how and where configuration elements are used in other elements in Jira. You can analyze the details of the relations between two configuration elements efficiently.

For example, you can understand exactly how a custom field is used in a workflow's transition. Let’s say it’s used in a post function; Power Admin will show you the relevant transition and the exact post function.

You can review locations for:

  • custom field used in a workflow, filter, dashboard, or agile board

  • screen used in a workflow

  • app used in a workflow, filter, or agile board

  • issue type used in a filter or agile board

  • status used in a workflow, filter, or agile board

  • priority used in a workflow, agile board, or filter

  • resolution used in a workflow, agile board, or filter

View locations

The Locations column is in the usage table. When you click on the Location (Location button) button there, Power Admin shows you where and how the particular element is used in a workflow.

To review the locations:

  1. Log in as a user with the Jira System Administrators global permission.

  2. Navigate to the top right of the screen and choose Jira Settings Configuration Manager.

  3. In the menu on the left, click Power Admin.

  4. On Power Admin's Search page, choose a configuration element type: custom field, app, screen, or issue type.

  5. Choose an element used in a workflow and open its usage page.

  6. Click the Location button button in the Locations column.

N/A in the Locations column indicates that location details are not yet supported for this configuration element pair relation.

  1. A dialog opens, showing details about where and how the configuration element is used in the specific workflow.
