In this user's guide, we'll take you through the key features of AIP that you'll be using day-to-day to manage your assets and inventory. From creating assets to controlling their lifecycle with the Asset Navigator, we'll show you how to get the most out of AIP.

Creating an Asset

Creating an asset is at the center of your experience with the Asset and Inventory Plugin (AIP) for Jira DC. To create a new asset, simply navigate to the Asset Navigator and click on the + Asset button. From here, you can enter all the relevant information for your asset, including its name, type, status, and any other attributes you've configured.

Asset Navigator

The Asset Navigator is the main destination for controlling the entire lifecycle of your assets, as it provides a comprehensive view of all your assets, enabling you to manage your inventory effectively and efficiently. Here, you can view all of your assets and filter them by various criteria, including asset type and status. You can also sort your assets by creation date, asset name, asset key, and more. The Asset Navigator also enables you to perform various actions on your assets, such as editing asset details, attaching files, and linking assets to one another.

Using Assets on Jira Issues

Another crucial part of your AIP experience is using assets on Jira issues by linking assets and adding assets to the JSM Customer Portal. You can also add assets to the JSM Customer Portal by navigating to the portal and clicking on the Add Asset button. This will enable your customers to view and interact with assets associated with their support requests, improving their overall customer experience.
