Prerequisites
AIP version 7.0 or higher
Linked assets
Similar to Jira's issue linking, AIP allows you to link assets to each other. This eliminates the need to define asset attributes; instead, you can create new asset link types and establish connections between assets.
You can define as many link types as needed to accommodate various linking scenarios and link any asset to another asset in your system.
Important Note
You must have Update Permission for both asset types being linked.
Steps
Navigate to the Asset Navigator and select the desired asset.
Click on Link.
Search for the asset you want to link with.
Choose the appropriate asset link type.
Select the asset to complete the link.
Click Link.
To remove a link, click the x symbol located in the corresponding row.
Referenced assets
Referenced assets are the selected assets on Asset List and Asset List by Asset Types attributes. You can see the referenced assets from the table below the asset detail screen.
You can also click Graphical View to access a visual representation of the referenced assets.
Linked vs. Referenced (asset attributes) assets
Asset Links: Ideal for flexible and generic linking. Create various link types to represent different relationships between assets. Link any asset to another.
Referenced Assets: Well-suited for structured data. Referenced assets function as fields within an asset type, allowing users to view and enter data. You can also configure these fields to be mandatory.
Graphical View of Linked and Referenced Assets
The graphical view offers a visual representation of the relationships between assets through links and references.
Accessing the Graphical View: Click "Graphical View" on the asset detail screen.
Depth: This defines the number of connections (edges) from a specific node. For example, Depth 1 represents A → B, while Depth 2 represents A → B → C.
Filters:
Include referenced assets: Check this box to include referenced assets in the graph. Uncheck to display only linked assets.
Only this asset's references: This option limits the view to show only the referenced assets directly connected to the main node (asset).
Regenerate Graph: Click this button to update the graph based on your chosen filters.
