Jira has been supporting two different text formatting styles – old wiki syntax (Server instances and long-living Jira Cloud instances) and new markdown syntax (default option in Jira Cloud with new issue view ).

Canned Responses for Jira Cloud comes with its own built-in visual editor which also supports the new markdown syntax.

Your templates should follow the syntax supported by your Jira instance.
