The Links configuration allows you to map links between issues relations such as parent/child, relates to/related to between Jira and Azure DevOps.

For example, if one item blocks another in Jira, you can create a blocks / is blocked by link between them, providing additional context by identifying how the two are related.

Jira and Azure DevOps use links to establish relationships between issues. To preserve these relationships during synchronization, you can map these links in the sync profile.Refer to Jira’s Linking Issues page for more information.

Links is an optional feature that is not required to complete a synchronization profile.

Jira has four default issue links, although you can also create custom links depending on your configuration.

  • relates to / relates to

  • duplicates / is duplicated by

  • blocks / is blocked by

  • clones / is cloned by

Common links used in Azure DevOps include:

  • affects / affected by

  • parent / child

  • duplicate / duplicate of

  • reference by / referenced

  • related / related (this link is non-directional)

  • tests / tested by

  1. From the Sync Profile, click Links in the left-side menu.

  2. Click the In Jira field and select an item from the list. Click the In Azure field and select an item from the list.

  3. Click Add mapping to add it to the Mapped links list.

  4. Click the Switch icon (blue star) to change the orientation of the Azure mapping. For example, switching Affected By / Affects to Affects / Affected By.

  5. Click Save settings.
