Lightning Web Components (LWC) offers new ways to design and create custom interfaces for Salesforce. 

Some of the app’s features, such as Inline Attachments and Jira Comments (NextGen), are only compatible with LWC.

This guide explains how to set up a connection between Jira and Salesforce.

Which version are you using?

Cloud

  1. Go to Settings > SalesforceSettings > Salesforce.

  2. In the sidebar, under Configuration CONNECTOR FOR SALESFORCE, click Connections.

  3. At the Salesforce Connections screen, click +Add Connection.

  4. The New Connection dialog window appears.
    Enter a Connection Name, then click Add.

  5. The connection is added to the Connection Name list but the Status displays

  6. Click Authorize.

  7. Select the environment type of your Salesforce instance, either Production or Sandbox.

  8. Click Authorize to authorize the connection.

    If you're not logged into Salesforce, the browser loads a new page and prompts you to enter your Salesforce credentials.

  9. If the authorization was successful, you can import the compact layout fields from Salesforce. This quickly pre-populates the objects and fields available through the connection.
    This step is optional, and you can always configure it later. Otherwise, click Import to proceed.

This is a two-part process:

  • First, set an Integration User before you can create a Connection.

  • Add the Connection to Salesforce.

Step 1: Select an integration user

An integration user must have a dedicated Jira user account specifically created for this purpose. See Setting up an integration user for more information.

  1. Go to Settings > Add-ons/Manage apps.

  2. In the sidebar, under SalesforceCONNECTOR FOR SALESFORCE, choose Settings.

  3. At the Settings screen, choose an Integration User for the Salesforce Package so that it can call Jira APIs on their behalf.

  4. After selecting an Integration User, click Save.

Step 2: Add a new Connection

  1. In the sidebar under SalesforceCONNECTOR FOR SALESFORCE, choose Connections.

  2. At the Salesforce Connections screen, click +Add Connection.Image Removed

  3. The New Connection dialog window appears.

  4. Enter a Connection Name, then click Add.

  5. The connection is added to the Connection Name list but the Status displays

  6. Click Authorize under the Operations column.

  7. Select the environment type of your Salesforce instance, either Production or Sandbox.

  8. Click Authorize.

  9. You will be given a code and asked to enter it at https://login.salesforce.com/setup/connect.

    (warning) When logging in to Salesforce to enter the code, the current user who logs in will become the "Salesforce Integration User".
  10. Follow the instructions. Once completed, return to your Jira instance and click Authorize.

  11. If the authorization was successful, you can now import the compact layout fields from Salesforce.
