Box type settings affect the availability of tabs in Box Configuration and the functioning of the Box (greyed-out options, unavailable features, hidden tabs).

To be able to change module settings, you first have to make sure a given module is active for a Box type. Otherwise, the module itself won't be available for Boxes of a given type. In such a situation, relevant tabs are also missing from Box Configuration.

Scope type
When a box type is set to "Sub scope," - the resulting Box doesn't have its own scope. Its contents are always a subset of the scope already defined at an upper level of the Box hierarchy (the upper-level Box must have "Own" scope).
