Problem
This article explains how to fix “The data source doesn't exist, or you do not have permissions.” Error received while trying to edit a gadget on an existing dashboard. Users can edit the dashboard by selecting “This Jira Instance Datasource,” but configuration changes for gadgets affect the dashboard.
The issue only appears when more than one or two persons have edit permissions on a dashboard.

To collaborate on the same gadgets with the same datasource, create a new datasource with the permission of “My organization.” Thus, any logged user in that instance can use that datasource.

Functionality - The “This Jira instance” datasource is private for each user, so each user has their own “This Jira instance” data source. If a gadget uses a private datasource, then only the datasource owner can use it. This is intended for security reasons, so there are no data leaks and users getting information using other users' credentials. |

Our roadmap includes the ability to grant permissions to datasources. Users will be able to share their datasources with other users, giving permissions in data sources more granularity beyond just “Private” or “My organization.” |
