Permission types

There are two types of permissions that can be granted to groups:

  • Permission to create new projects from templates.
  • Permission to own a project created from a template. The users in groups granted this permission can be designated as the project lead during the project creation. Please note that:
    • If no group is specified, the project lead is defaulted to the project creator.
    • If the group specified only has one user, the project lead automatically becomes that user.

Grant permissions to a group

  1. From the Cog menu , select Manage apps.
  2. Locate the Delegated Project Creator section in the left sidebar and select Permission Settings to display the Permission Settings page.
    1. Select the group to add from the Groups to add dropdown.
    2. Click Add group to Creators or Add group to Owners as required.

By default, Jira administrators have permission to create projects.

Revoke permissions from a group

From the Permission settings screen, click delete next to the group whose permissions you want to revoke.
