Software Release |
| Every time a new version of your software/application is released, you have to go through a checklist of items to complete, tests to run, document to fill (software release, user documentation) and so on. It's always the same, and it's probably already managed in Jira. One good way to organize that would be to have a Software Release Activity Template which would contain:
All your software releases managed from a single button.
New Web Site Project |
| As a Website designer, when you have a website to design, you have to go through all the same steps over and over. Want to track your activities, in regards to your customers? Then you may have a generic list of things to do (if you don't have your own list already, Internet has it for you!) that you wish not to forget. By having this list, you may also give your customers a decent and professional progress report. Then you may create your Website Project Template by having:

Gate Management |
| Often, larger projects are split into different phases for measuring and reporting their progress better. Gates are inserted between each phase, so that the stakeholders may meet and discuss the different issues regarding the prior phase, and if we are advanced enough to go on with the next phase. Stage-Gate process are quite common, with several books talking about them (one of them by Robert G. Cooper - Winning at new products). Good practice would be have a specific Gate stored as a templates, namely Gate Templates. Each template represents a specific gate, with all the proper document templates to fill in Confluence. You may have a hierarchy of pages, Page Extension allows to manage multiple Confluence pages. Additionally, you may have Jira issues in some gates, so that relevant actions are undertaken. All your gates are managed from clicking on the same button. | |

Hardware World, creating a new PCB |
| Creating a new PCB gets you to redo over and over the same tasks : design of the PCB, schematics and gerber file, printing the circuit board, assembling the parts, hardware testing. This may lead from 50 to 100 tasks to do. One nice and standardized way to manage this is to have a PCB Template. With this template, you may instantly create all the tasks required, have them assigned. You are thinking about respins and manage them as tempaltes as well? So one smart way to do that would be to have several Issue FIles in your template. So you need to create add in your template:
Depending on the situation, you may simply select the proper file and template to instantiate. Using the Text Macro replacement feature, you may replace the name of the PCB, which cannot be part of your template (otherwise, it wouln't be a template)
Single User Checklist |
| As a single user, you may have to do recurring tasks. |
