How to configure Issue Matrix for Jira Cloud

Configuring an Issue Matrix is a quick and intuitive task. You can create matrices of your choice in a project and configure their context, data, and visualization options.

Additionally, you can link one matrix to multiple projects. The matrix configuration and panel will appear in all linked projects with this option. Changes to the configuration in one of the linked projects will affect the rest. Learn more about project linking

Create Issue Matrices of different types

You can create matrices of four different types:

In the matrix configuration, you can specify issues of which types will be displayed in the matrix panel, for example, stories, sub-tasks, defects, etc.

For multi-project matrices, you can specify issue types per project. Respectively, a given project’s matrix panel will display only the issues selected from that project.

After completing the configuration, Issue Matrix immediately transforms your issue views and makes the necessary information visible to all stakeholders in a team or project. Based on the additional information that is easily accessible within a single issue view, your team’s processes and decisions are much more effective.

For a quick tour of Issue Matrix’s features, see the Get started with Issue Matrix article.

  6. Type: In the Type section, choose the issue types shown on your Issue Matrix.

  7. Data: Configure the information (columns, their width, and headers) the Issue Matrix will show. The columns you can choose between are custom fields from your Jira Cloud instance.

  8. Sort By: For the Sub-task, Issue Links, and Epic type Issue matrices, you have the option to set a default sort order for the issues displayed in the Issue Matrix panel. You can choose one or more columns as a default sorting criteria among the sortable custom field list.
(info) For JQL matrices, sorting can be achieved using sort clauses in the JQL query.

  9. Save the configuration.

Different projects or teams have specific needs in their daily work. Issue Matrix for Jira Cloud allows you to reflect these specifics and show different information in the issue views of the different projects. To achieve it, create matrices with different configuration options.
