How to create issues/sub-tasks based on the Component value

This article explains how to create issues or sub-tasks based on the Component value using the Create on Transition app

Instructions

Follow the steps:

  1. Log in as a Jira Administrator and click  > Projects.
  2. Select Project from the list in which you want to add the Components.
  3. It will traverse to the Project settings of the particular project and click on Components.
  4. Add the respective components as required.

           

      5. Go to the > Issues and under the Workflows tab, click the Edit link to modify the required workflow.
      6. Select the transition for which you want to add or edit the post function. Select the Post Functions option.
          
      7. Select Create issues / Create Sub-task from the available options.
      8. Navigate to the Conditions and Configurations tab and add the below post function.
          

        9.  Click Publish.
      10.  Create an issue and select the Component. Now perform the transition on the issue where post-function has been added.

             Two scenarios are covered in the below screenshot:
             Scenario1: Based on the Component value as ProductY and perform a transition on the issue. Issue created with issue type Task
             Scenario2: Based on the Component value as productX and perform a transition on the issue. Issue created with issue type Bug.
              


             


     

It is recommended to test this function in a non-production environment before deploying it in production.
