Atlassian Connect app scopes
When you install an Atlassian Connect app (also known as an add-on or plugin), you're prompted to approve and accept the app's scopes. For more information, refer to Atlassian Connect app scopes.

Power BI Jira Connector: Scope permissions
The Power BI Jira Connector only reads the data and does not write anything to Jira.
To use the app, you need the minimum Jira Project “Browse” permission.
Only the Jira Administrator can change the App settings.
Power BI Desktop
After importing the Jira data to Power BI Desktop, users have the flexibility to modify or delete the data in the Power BI Desktop.
Any change made to the data in Power BI Desktop is not written back to Jira.
During the subsequent data refresh, the data in Power BI Desktop is updated with newly imported data from Jira.
Hence, only the below scope capabilities are applicable to the Power BI Jira Connector app.
Scope | Capabilities |
---|---|
Read | Read data from the host application |
Act as user | Act on a user's behalf, even when the user is offline |
Project administration | Administer JIRA projects |
Full Administration | Administer the host application |
