Global actions provide an easy shortcut to kick off the Jira issue creation process from anywhere within Slack. This method is one the easiest to teach new users.

What to know:

  • The global action feature can be used from anywhere within Slack.

  • Users need to connect their Slack and Jira accounts to get started.

  • The project and issue type will be defaulted based on the users preferences.

Creating a Jira issue with the global action.

  1. Click the + icon in Slack

  2. Type Create to find the Integration+ global action.

  3. Choose the Create Jira issue action.

  4. Complete the form to create your Jira issue.

We will default the project and issue type based on your user preferences or ask you which project and type.
