FAQ on Confluence Server to Confluence Cloud migration

Users migrating Visibility for Confluence from the Server to the cloud can retain all macros and data. Your questions about this scenario have been captured and responded to below.

Question

How do I migrate Visibility for Confluence to the Cloud?

Answer

Migrate your content with the Cloud Migration Assistant by Atlassian. All the app data will be migrated automatically.

Question

Is there anything I need to know before migrating?

Answer

  • Both Visibility for Confluence macros ( Hide If & Show If ) are available in the Cloud.

  • However, only some macro parameters are supported in the Cloud. Refer to the specific macro reference page for more details.

Question

What happens to the parameters that are not available in the Cloud? Will my data be lost?

Answer

While the functions of these parameters do not have any output and the values are ignored in the Cloud, all data will be retained. Some of the parameters may be coming to Cloud in future releases.

Question

How do I access data from these legacy macro parameters?

Answer

The data will be visible when in edit mode for now.

Question

What happens to the Special Usernames values in the Hide If & Show If macro when transferred to Cloud?

Answer

The data will be transferred to the Authentication Type field that can be accessed by expanding the Hide advanced filters dropdown in the Cloud.

Question

Do I have to do anything to make these data available in the future once the macro feature has been fully supported in the cloud?

Answer

These functions will automatically pick up the migrated data and work automatically.

Question

In terms of the content inside the Hide-if or Show-if macros. Are there any particular cases that I need to be aware of?

Answer

The content inside hide-if and show-if macros may not be displayed the same way in the Cloud as in the Server. For example:

  • If pages contain a third-party macro, you must install that first.

  • Similarly, macros with integrations to other macros unsupported in Confluence Cloud will not work as expected.

  • Pages containing nested-bodied macro will still work upon migration if you don't convert the page to New Editor
