This article provides you with an overview of the following topics:

Features

  • Use the Image Slider macro on a page to display selected image attachments from any space or page in a nice-looking image slider.

  • Display optional thumbnails with a single click.

  • Use the native Confluence comments to display captions for each image.

  • Use attachment comments as image captions to display more information in the image slider. You can even link the images to the pages or they are attached. There are also multiple transition effects you can choose from and lots of configuration options like image fitting, responsive or static width and height, gallery mode with thumbnails, different navigation types, etc. to adjust the image slider to your needs.

Parameters

Configuration flexibility lets users decide the rate of transitions, the footprint on the page, and more:

Width

Blank

(Size of the first image is used.)

Enter the width of the slider in pixels or percents. Leave blank to let the slider automatically choose the best size.

Example: 100%, 500px

Height

Blank

(Size of the first image is used.)

Enter the height of the slider in pixels. Leave blank to let the slider automatically choose the best size.

Image Fitting

Stretch

Choose whether images should be stretched to fit or scaled from the centre and cropped to fit. Values are:

  • Stretch - Stretch images to fit the slider.

  • Scale And Crop - Scale the width of images from the centre to fit the slider, then crop height accordingly.

Sort Images By

Creation Date

Choose the order in which the images must be sorted. Values are:

  • Creation Date - Sort by the creation date of the attachment.

  • File Name - Sort by the file name of the attachment.

  • Comment - Sort by attachment comment.

  • Random - Sort randomly.

Reverse Order

Not selected

Choose to sort the images in the reverse order depending on the Sort Images By parameter value.

Filter Images By Date Range

Not selected

Choose to filter the images based on a specific date range.

Select the check box, and a calendar is displayed. Choose the start and end dates from the calendar to apply the filter.

Use Attachment Comments As

Caption

Choose whether attachment comments are to be used as image captions or external links. Values are:

  • None - Caption is not displayed

  • Caption - Comments are displayed as captions

  • Link - Comments are used as external links

  • Caption and Link - Comments are used as captions and external links. Use a vertical bar "|" in the comment to separate the caption from the link.
    Example: Caption|http://xyz.com

Slider Effect

Fade

Choose between multiple transition effects. Valid values are:

  • Fade

  • Slide

Auto Slide Display Time

Enter the time in milliseconds (ms) to specify how long each image must be shown. 0 value turns the auto slider off.

Show Navigation

Selected

Choose to show the previous or next navigation.

Show Thumbnails

Not selected

Choose to show thumbnails of the images at the bottom of the slider.

Creating Image Slider macro

To insert images using the Image Slider macro, perform the following:

  1. Go to the page where you want to slide the images.

  2. Type '/' and the name of the macro (Image slider) or click the + icon.

  3. Select the Image Slider macro. The Insert 'Image Slider Macro is displayed.

  4. Click the Select Images button.

  5. Choose the Space and Page name from where you want to pull images from.

  6. (Optional) To pull images based on the labels specify Attachment Labels.

  7. Click Get Images. All the images are loaded.

  8. Select the images that you want to use in the image slider.

  9. Click View Selected. The images selected are displayed.

  10. Click Close.

  11. Customize the way the image slider you want to view the slider. For more information, see

  12. Click Insert.

  13. Publish the page. The Image slider is rendered on to your page.
