With the AIP version 7.0, you can link assets to each other (just like Jira's issue links). No need to define asset attributes, just define new asset link types and link assets. Please remember; you need update permission for both 2 linked asset types.

Differences between Reference Assets (asset attributes) and Asset Links

  • Links are great for generic and flexible asset linking. You can define as many link types as you wish and you can link any asset to another.
  • Asset attributes are great for structural data: It is displayed as a field for asset type where users see and enters data, and you can make it mandatory.

Linking assets

  1. Go to Asset Navigator and choose an asset
  2. Click Link
  3. Search for asset which you want to link with
  4. Select asset link type

You can remove link by clicking the cross in the row.
