Use monday.com boards

Connect monday.com boards

Start working with BigPicture and connect your monday boards to see your projects in the app.

  1. Click Connect monday.com boards

  1. Select monday boards to create box(es) and type a box name

If you have problems finding the board you are looking for, just refresh board list.

  1. Click Connect button

Create a box

To create a new box:

  1. Click the +Add new button.

  2. Choose a box type and complete a box name.

  3. Start and end dates are automatically set to today. You can edit start/end dates now or later.

  4. Add monday boards to populate the scope of a box.

  5. Adjust the icon and its color for a box (box scope configuration can be modified at any later point).

  6. Click Create.

Configure scope definition

You can add/remove boards from a box scope on this screen. In the Advanced configuration, you can decide if you want your boards and groups to be visualized on the Gantt timeline as tasks.

Steps:

  1. Use the Configure Scope button in the message to access scope configuration OR

    Configure scope .mov
  2. Go to a box (click on its name)

    1. From the module switcher, select Configuration

    2. on the left go to Tasks > Scope definition

Configure task structure

Task structure settings automatically arrange your tasks into a task tree.

Steps:

  1. Use the Configure Scope button in the message to access scope configuration OR

    Configure task structure.mov
  2. In Box Configuration, go to Tasks > Task structure

Baselines

To assess the performance of your project over time, you can set Baselines and track deviations from your initial schedule.

Configure the field mapping

Field mapping lets BigPicture know where data can be found in board columns, regardless of the column name. This lets you work with all items in a single BigPicture box, even if your monday boards don't have an identical column setup.

Field

Description

Start/end date

  • timeline column - if you use one timeline column per board, the start/end dates are automatically mapped.

  • date columns - manually configure the mapping. Use two different columns for the ‘start’ and ‘end’ dates.

  • not synchronized - It is possible to leave the fields as ‘not synchronized’. You will still be able to use BigPicture, but data will not be synchronized with any board columns.

Status

Use a status column for the filed mapping. By default, the leftmost status column of a monday board is used.

Assignee

Use a people column for the field mapping. By default, the leftmost people column of a monday board is used.

Original Estimate

Use a numbers column for the field mapping.

Time spent

Use a numbers column for the field mapping.

Story Points

Use a numbers column for the field mapping.

Actual cost

Use a numbers column for the field mapping.

Estimated cost

Use a numbers column for the field mapping.
