Some emojis don't appear when using hide-if or show-if macros

Summary

Some emojis look fine when the page is published but appear as blue stars when the same page is used in a Live Template macro.

Cause

This is caused by an issue in Confluence affecting visibility and several other apps.

Workaround

Stop using Confluence editor emojis and use the built-in emojis found in many OSes:

  1. In Windows 10: Use the emoji keyboard - press the Windows logo key + . (period). The emoji keyboard will appear.

  2. In Mac OS: Use the character viewer.

Resolution

It is currently listed as a bug by Atlassian. A timeline hasn’t been provided yet for fixing this bug.
