Flexible layout

Flexible layout

This page applies to both Agile Cards for Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center.

Selecting the Flexible layout in the Template settings tab provides full control over the placement and sizing of issue fields on your cards.

This layout option lets you design each card individually using a drag-and-drop interface. You decide which fields to show, where to place them, and how they appear.

Prerequisites

  • This area is accessible only to Jira Administrators and Project Administrators.

Configuration

1. Add fields

To start building your card layout, you'll first need to add fields to the canvas:

  • Browse the list of available fields. These have the same names as on your issue view screens.

  • If the list is long, use the search bar to find the field you're looking for.

  • Click the field name, then click the + button to add it to the design canvas.

QR codes vs. KR codes

There are two special types of fields that you will find in the fields list and on your templates:

  • QR codes: These codes link directly to Jira issue pages. Most mobile devices include QR code scanners, providing quick and convenient access without manual URL entry.

  • KR codes: Exclusive to Agile Cards, KR codes enable the Agile Cards scanner to accurately identify and track multiple cards simultaneously. These codes are essential if you're scanning physical boards but unnecessary if scanning is not part of your workflow. All example templates since Agile Cards 4.0.0 include KR codes by default.

2. Field properties

Click any field on the canvas to access its properties in the right-hand panel. Here, you can configure the field, move it to the front or back, or delete it from the canvas.

How to edit the field

  1. Click the pencil icon to configure the field. The Edit screen appears.

  2. Configure the following options:

Edit screen showing the different options you can edit.
    • Content Align: Choose how the label and value should be aligned within the box.

    • Field Label: Enable the checkbox to display the field’s name.

      • Style the text: Set font style and size for both the label and the value.

  3. Click Apply.

3. Design canvas

The center of the screen displays the card design canvas. This is where you’ll position, move, and resize the field boxes:

  • Move a field: Drag the box from its center.

  • Resize a field: Drag from its border. Your cursor will change shape depending on the area you're hovering.

  • Remove a field: Click the X icon in the top-right corner of the field.

  • Adjust stacking order: Use the adjacent icons to bring a field forward or send it to the back.

Fields and canvas areas are transparent in print and will appear white on white paper.

How to design both sides

If you want to use both sides of the card, select Print on both sides. Use the Front and Back tabs above the canvas to switch between views.

You can click Delete all elements to clear the canvas or Reset to defaults to revert to the default layout.
