Survey and Vote 4.0.21

Migration from Server to Cloud

In 4.0.21 a change was made to copy Survey and Vote data to a location that makes it available to the plugin Polls for Confluence (Cloud) when a page with a survey or vote macro on it is migrated from Confluence Data Center or Confluence Server to Confluence Cloud.

Also, a change was made to add a migration listener that can alert Polls for Confluence (Cloud) when a migration to Cloud has been done for Survey and Vote. A copy of the Survey and Vote data is now in a location on Confluence Server/DataCenter that is automatically migrated to Cloud along with page data when pages are migrated. Thus, Polls is able to get that data on the Cloud side of a migration.

The Survey and Vote data is automatically copied to this location on server when a page is viewed by a user who has edit permissions on the page. The copy will only be performed if the data has not already been copied and if the data has changed since the previous copy operation.

See the Survey and Vote global admin tool to see that there is a new global lock available for locking all Survey and Vote macros on an instance:

This new setting can be used in a Server to Cloud migration strategy. The basic idea is that your admin would lock all Survey and Vote macros so that no additional voting takes place on the instance. Then they would make sure that all pages with Survey and Vote macros on them have been recently viewed, then they would migrate a space or spaces to Cloud and the Polls for Confluence macro would appear in the place of Survey and Vote macros on Cloud.

There is a new “Migration” tab in the admin tool that lists this process:
