How to create issues in bulk from a CSV file using Jira Command Line Interface (CLI)

This article explains how to create issues in bulk from a CSV using Jira Command Line Interface (CLI).

Instructions

Create a CSV file with the below columns:
- project refers to the project key.
- type is the issue type.
- summary is the issue summary.
- description is the issue description.
- priority is the issue priority.
- assignee is the issue assignee.
Combine runFromCsv with the --file parameter and createIssue action to create issues in bulk. This example works because the CSV file contains the data that is required for the createIssue action with relevant parameters.
```
--action runFromCsv --file createissues.csv --common "--action createIssue"
```

Additional columns can be added for custom fields and a list of supported custom fields have been documented in Custom Field Types
It is recommended to test this scenario in a non-production environment or run the action with the --simulate parameter, to verify the behavior before deploying on a production environment.
