How to clear the plugin cache in Jira and Confluence server instances

This article explains how to clear the plugin cache in Jira and Confluence server instances.

Ensure that:

  • The user has the read/write permission to clear the plugin cache.

  • The user, who clears the cache, must be the one who logs in once the Jira or Confluence instance starts.

Instructions

Jira 

  1. Shut down the Jira server instance. 

  2. Go to the Jira Home Directory > Plugins folder.

  3. Delete the following folders:

    <jira-home>/plugins/.osgi-plugins <jira-home>/plugins/.bundled-plugins

    These two folders are rebuilt when Jira starts.

  4. Start the Jira instance.

Confluence 

  1. Shut down the Confluence server instance.

  2. Go to the Confluence Home Directory > Plugins folder.

  3. Delete the following folders:

    <confluence-home>/bundled-plugins <confluence-home>/plugins-cache <confluence-home>/plugins-osgi-cache <confluence-home>/plugins-temp <confluence-home>/bundled-plugins_language

    These folders are rebuilt when Confluence starts.



  4. Start the Confluence instance.
