Restrict an announcement to be viewed only once for a user using Announcer for Jira
This article explains how to restrict a Jira announcement to be viewed only once for a given user, irrespective of the number of logins the user makes into the Jira instance.
Instructions
- Log into Jira as an Administrator.
- Navigate to Cog wheel ( > Manage apps.
- Select Announcements under the ANNOUNCER FOR JIRA section from the sidebar on the left.
- Go to the intended announcement under Active Notifications in the Announcer Configuration page.
- Click Edit icon to see the announcement editor.
- Click Show advanced options and unselect the checkbox option Show announcement upon every login as shown below:
- Save the announcement and then log out from Jira instance.
- Log in now as the targeted user to see the announcement.
- Click Dismiss to dismiss the announcement.
- Now re-login to the same instance and you notice that the announcement is not displayed again.
If the user does not click the Dismiss button, the announcement is displayed on logging in again until the user clicks Dismiss.
