How to Keep Approval History for Older Page Versions in Confluence Cloud

In Confluence Cloud, the Document Activity macro from Comala only works on the current version of a page. If you open an older version, the macro doesn’t show anything.

This article shows you how to keep a record of approvals that you can still view later, even if the page changes.

 Instructions

  1. Show approvals on the page:

  • Edit the page.

  • Type /Document Approvals and insert the macro.

  • Save the page.

  • This will show who approved the page and when.

  1. Save a copy of the page:

  • After approvals are done, click the three dots (•••) at the top right.

  • Choose Export > Export to PDF.

  • Download the PDF.

  1. Attach the PDF to the page:

  • Drag and drop the PDF into the page or go to Attachments and upload it.

Now, even if the page changes, the PDF keeps a permanent record of the approval.
