Why does the "Time entry: User Email" field not display user emails in Reports and Timesheets for Jira (Cloud)
When configuring a report in the Reports and Timesheets for Jira app on cloud, users can notice that the Time entry: User Email field does not display email addresses as expected. This behavior occurs due to Atlassian's privacy controls around user profile visibility.
Problem
When a user attempts to extract the email addresses of time entry users using the Time entry: User Email field in a custom report, the field returns empty or null values.
Root cause
By default, Atlassian protects user emails and displays them in reports only when users set their email addresses to public in their Atlassian account settings. If a user restricts email visibility in their profile, the app cannot retrieve or display that data.
Solution
To display email addresses correctly in your Reports and Timesheets report:
Ask each user whose email is needed in the report to:
Navigate to Atlassian Account Settings
Under Profile and visibility, set the Email address visibility to Anyone.
Once the user sets the visibility:
Re-run the report where the user has logged time or is referenced in the Time entry: User Email field.
The user’s email should now display in the report.
Additional notes
Each user must update this setting individually.
Users can revert this visibility setting at any time, which can cause emails to disappear from reports.
