Cloud Site Rename feature compatibility - HelpDesk+ for Microsoft Teams

Overview

Atlassian allows the paid Jira instances to change the URL of the Jira instance. This can be useful in many situations, like rebranding and acquisitions. Changing the URL can affect installed apps and sometimes even cause them to stop working.

 

 

Prerequisites

In the case of the HelpDesk+ for Microsoft Teams, it is also necessary to prepare the app before any changes related to the URL are made.

It is impossible to change the Jira URL without losing all of the settings related to HelpDesk+ for Microsoft Teams, as integration works based on a specific Jira URL, and it can’t change it. However, if you do not prepare the app for changes related to the Jira URL, you will lose access to the configuration section once you do this.

 

 

 

Preparation instructions for URL change

  1. Open Jira SettingsApps.

  2. Open Settings in Microsoft Teams HelpDesk+ section.

  3. Choose Disconnect.

  4. Change Jira URL (Update a product URL subdomain | Atlassian Support).

  5. Open Settings in the Microsoft Teams HelpDesk+ section one more time and follow the steps displayed by the app to connect your Jira instance with Microsoft Teams one more time.

  6. Ask users to connect their accounts again.

It is a configuration from scratch without following the initial steps, such as creating app links.
