There was a problem connecting to the server account
We've often seen admins make updates to firewalls or change the port access from Confluence servers to the email server.
Ensure server and port are entered correctly.
You can verify this by trying to access the account with a mail client like Postbox, Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.
Ensure the port is open.
Often the port (such as 993) from the Confluence server to reach out to the email server (such as 'gmail.com') is not open. By default most ports are closed. Your administrator must open this port so Confluence can check email.
