Strategic Theme progress
Overview
The Strategic theme’s progress can be automatically calculated by the app or manually updated by the user.
Calculate the Strategic theme’s progress
The progress of a Strategic theme is always expressed as a percentage.
The individual sub-items impact the parent item’s progress based on their contribution (weight).
Strategic theme progress = The sum of progress of all direct sub-items divided by the total number of those sub-items.
The direct supporting sub-items can include:
Sub-strategic themes
Sub-objectives
Key Results
linked work items (they affect the automatic Key Results’ progress)
linked boxes (the work items in the scope of linked boxes affect the automatic Key Results’ progress)
Below, you can see a Strategic theme (highlighted in blue) and the three direct sub-items (highlighted in yellow). The strategic theme’s progress is based on these three sub-items and their weight. The formula remains the same, regarless of whether a Strategic theme is in a manual or auto progress mode.
Auto-Strategic theme
In the auto mode, the progress of the Strategic theme (ST) is calculated automatically by the app based on the progress of the linked sub-items. As your teams work toward their OKRs and update the status of the associated sub-items, the ST’s progress automatically updates.
STs in the auto progress mode require minimal user intervention to maintain accurate tracking.
Manual Strategic theme
In the manual mode, the user updates the progress of the Strategic theme.
Set a Strategic theme to auto or manual mode
You can set the progress mode for a Strategic theme in two ways:
On the New Strategic theme modal (when you create a new ST)
On the OKR details page (by converting a Strategic theme’s progress mode)
