Example 5: Set default values for a custom field

We've encountered an issue exporting this macro. Please try exporting again later.

This example demonstrates how to set the default value for a Power custom field of the multiple-option type. The options that display depend on pre-defined option type you selected when creating the custom field.

For details, review the Supported option types by custom field type section in the Option types page.

If your data source requires an issue key, you can still set default values on the configuration page, but you won't be able to see the available options in a dropdown. Instead, you'll need to manually enter the values in JSON format (see Example 7).

To set the default pre-filled value for your Power custom field:

  1. In Jira Administration, navigate to Issues > Custom fields.

  2. Locate the field on the page and select Configure contexts from its actions menu.

Configure contexts link in actions drop-down menu
  3. In the configuration settings section of the page, click Edit Default value.

  4. Start typing to select an option from the drop-down list.

The screenshot below shows the Set Custom Field Defaults for a PCF - Multiple Autcomplete field configured with Issue Picker data option:

After you complete these steps and when you create a new issue, the default value, or values, are automatically selected.
